Bear Cave

The Bear Cave is one of the most famous caves in Romania. Located in north-western Transylvania, it is situated approximately 75 kilometres south-east of Oradea, the county town of Bihor County. Discovered in 1975, the cave's stalactites impress visitors. The highlight of every guided tour is a visit to the fossilised skeleton of a cave bear (Ursus spelaeus). This remarkably well-preserved skeleton has been there for around 15,000 years.
