Lazarea Castle

Lázár Castle in Lăzarea, built in 1532, is a fine example of Renaissance architecture in Transylvania. The fortress with four bastions was a cultural centre for centuries. After several destructions, it was restored from 1967. Today, it houses over 2,000 artworks and is known for the richly decorated “Sala Cavalerilor”. Visits are possible on Sundays by appointment.
